At WAIG Foundation, we work hard to ensure every contribution is used effectively to support our mission. We understand that mistakes can happen during the donation process, and we have established this policy to handle refund requests with transparency and fairness.
General Policy
As a non-profit organization, all donations are generally considered irrevocable gifts. However, we will consider refund requests under the following specific circumstances:
Technical Error: A technical glitch resulted in a duplicate charge or an incorrect amount being processed.
Unauthorized Transaction: A donation was made without the cardholder's permission (subject to verification).
Accidental Donation: A donor made a clear error in the amount entered (e.g., typing $1,000 instead of $100).
Refund Request Window
To be eligible for a refund, you must submit a written request within 15 days of the transaction date. Requests received after this period may be declined, as funds may have already been allocated to our field programs.
Impact on Tax Receipts
If a tax-deductible receipt (e.g., 80G in India or 501(c)(3) in the US) has already been issued for the donation:
The original receipt must be returned to WAIG Foundation or declared void in writing.
We are legally required to notify the relevant tax authorities if a donation for which a tax benefit was claimed is subsequently refunded.
How to Request a Refund
To initiate a request, please email us at info@waigfoundation.org with the following details:
Full Name of the donor.
Date and time of the donation.
Amount of the donation.
Transaction ID (found in your confirmation email).
A brief explanation of the reason for the refund.
Processing Time
Once approved, refunds are issued back to the original payment method used (credit card, bank account, etc.). Please allow 7–10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement. Please note that some third-party payment gateways may retain a small processing fee that we cannot recover.
